Headspace Ventilation: Removing THMs Where They Accumulate

THMs naturally volatilize from the water surface into a tank’s headspace. Without proper ventilation, these volatile compounds can build up and re-dissolve into the water, undermining treatment efforts.

Our headspace ventilation devices are engineered to continually refresh the air in the tank’s headspace, ensuring THMs are removed as they off-gas from the water. This simple yet powerful process accelerates THM stripping and supports consistent compliance with regulatory standards.

Active Mixing: Bringing Fresh Water to the Surface

The PAX Mixer plays an essential role in THM removal by continually circulating water from the bottom of the tank to the surface. This upward flow promotes the release of THMs into the headspace, where they can be effectively vented out.

Active mixing eliminates thermal and chemical stratification, enabling uniform water quality throughout the tank while maintaining a consistent environment for natural THM volatilization.

No two tanks are the same. Using advanced hydraulic and chemical modeling, engineers evaluate each tank’s volume, fill-and-drain cycles, geometry, and THM speciation to determine the optimal energy input for mixing and ventilation performance.
