A Look Inside PureAir’s Systems
Potential clients can find it challenging to envision our chemisorbant media within a unit. Here, we present an image featuring Sulphasorb 2™ media installed in an Emergency Gas Scrubber. While reviewing the media options detailed on this page, consider this visual reference. Note the even distribution and secure fit of the media within the media bed. It’s essential to avoid overly compacting the media, as this could impede airflow and reduce filtration efficiency. PureAir’s knowledgeable sales team is available to address any additional inquiries regarding the installation and application of our acclaimed chemisorbant media.

Chemisorbant Media Case Study
FACILITY TYPE: Aquarium
LOCATION: Abu Dhabi
EQUIPMENT/MEDIA USED: PurePak 18 filled with Ammoniasorb®
PROBLEM: Ammonia buildup in the penguin and bird habitats threatening their health and comfort. The challenge is further complicated in these cold, enclosed habitats where ammonia is less volatile and lingers longer.
SOLUTION: PureAir®’s PP18 Modules filled with Ammoniasorb chemisorbant media. Seamlessly integrated into their existing Air Handling Units, these modules control and maintain safe ammonia levels in their animal habitats.

Impregnated Activated Alumina Media
We offer multiple types of activated alumina that are impregnated with potassium permanganate. PureAir® starts with the highest grade activated alumina to ensure that the greatest possible capacity is reached. This alumina is then impregnated with potassium permanganate while being formed into a pellet. Click HERE to request more information on our medias; PureAir 4, PureAir 8, PureAir 12, Alumina, and Siloxsorb.
PureAir 4
PureAir’s 4 media targets a broad range of gases which cause corrosion, odor, as well as other undesirable gases.
PureAir 8
PureAir 8 has been developed to have roughly twice the capacity of PureAir 4 media. This second generation adsorbent media was developed in order to provide customers with the maximum adsorption benefit at the minimum cost.
PureAir 12
Has been developed to have roughly fifty percent greater capacity than PureAir 8 media. PureAir 12 meets the requirements for UL certification.
PureAir 12-SP
PureAir’s 12-SP a combination of powdered activated alumina and other binders, suitably impregnated with sodium permanganate to provide optimum adsorption, absorption, and oxidation of a wide variety of gaseous contaminants.
Alumina
Is an inert, porous substance that is hygroscopic and used in many adsorption applications from gas phase filtration to being used as a desiccant in air drying applications.
Siloxsorb
Is an inert, porous substance that is used in many adsorption applications.
AC-C
Produced from the shell of coconuts, this carbon is considered the finest in the world of air purification. The coconut shell forms pores which are just the right size to capture many gases and odors.
AC-X
Because of its shape, performance, and low cost, extruded carbon has become the standard over the past decade. PureAir carbon has a low dust, high activity level, economical choice.
Ammoniasorb®
This media provides ideal adsorption of amines and other base compounds which as ammonia. The media is developed from highly activated carbon manufactured by steam activation from selected grades of anthracite coal.
Sulphasorb XL™
This media has the highest Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) removal capacity commercially available. H2S is the primary gas in sewage odors and industrial process gases. This high removal capacity (greater than 0.30 g/cc or more than 50 percent by weight) gives PureAir® gas removal systems the ability to provide long lasting, highly efficient odor removal. This media provides customers with a low cost solution with the highest effectiveness.
Sulphasorb FeXL™
This media is a 50/50 percent blend of Sulphasorb XL™ media and Sulphasorb Fe™ media. The ability to remove 45% of its weight in H2S places it high above activated carbon. Made from a high iron content compound, Sulphasorb FeXL™ media is an all-around better choice than activated carbon for use in odor control scrubbers where H2S levels exceed 50 ppm.
Sulphasorb 2™
Targets acidic gases, specifically hydrogen sulfide. This media has the same capacity by volume (0.15 g/cc) as original Sulphasorb™ media, but it has the upgraded benefit of fire resistance.
NOXsorb
Was developed to serve the growing worldwide concern about the health risks associated with NOx. This family of gases includes Nitrogen Oxide (NO), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), and Nitrogen Trioxide (NO3).
Blended Media
PureAir® offers unique blends of media to target a broad range of odors and gases. Each blend has different capacity removals. Click HERE for more information on which media best fits your needs: PP Blend, CP Blend, CPS Blend, CPZ Blend, CPS 12 Blend, TriBlend, and VOCsorb.
